MySky is a very cool piece of technology built by meade. With this device, you can point at the night sky and be supplied with information related to the celestial bodies towards which you are pointing. If you want to go all out on technology, this same device can be integrated with a robotic telescope. Information is displayed on a full color LCD screen. I think this would make a great gift for an inquisitive child. I get in situations where I try to foster an interest in some field of science in my kids and it backfires because they make an incorrect assumption that I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the subject. The MySky is a combination of inspiration and information. It even has audio presentations.

I thought this through and my kids would have the MySky for about five minutes before they asked me HOW it worked. I would hope that there is a basic explanation with the instructions.
