Ticket Scalping to Become Legal in NY
When I was a kid, my older brother and his friends took a road trip to Boston to catch a couple of ball games. I was eager to hear all about it when he got back. One thing he mentioned was that the scalpers in front of the park used a backwards form of advertising. They would call out
“I need tickets….who’s got tickets?”
I can imagine there were lots of similar affectations made in New York to enable them to perform an illegal act in a crowd with some degree of impunity. I imagine they must have had runners taking the ticket money out of the possession of the front man as well.
The news this morning is that State politicians in NY are hammering out legislation that makes ticket scalping legal.
