My first introduction to the name Tyler Cruz was from scathing criticism on a forum. There are two kinds of people who garner this kind of attention. Nasty sociopaths, and smart, link baiting internet entrepreneurs. Tyler appears to fall into column B.

At first, I avoided his site, because I thought it would just be filled with vitriol and unprofessionalism. I finally took a look after I noticed that a forum thread that he started to introduce himself had hundreds of posts. I just realized that I didn’t even read the post, I went straight to his site.

He provides a link back in exchange for a review, hence me talking about him. I have the mind of a scientist, so I decided to look at a post he made on a subject that almost everybody has been posting about in the last few months. I even did a quick blurb about the issue of splitting your PR between www.sitename.com and sitename.com.

Tyler’s explanation was personalized, in-depth and instructional. He gave step by step advice about installing a 301 redirect and a clear explanation of what this should accomplish. His writing style works for me. It is a bit egotistical. After spending an hour reading through several of his posts, I am left wondering what makes a number of people dislike him. I can only assume that he does not trouble himself with some of the social contrivances of the blogosphere. I wouldn’t mind knowing some of what Tyler knows and doing some of what he does, but I don’t want to be just like him.
