Car Accessories

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

The best is yet to come on the car accessory website YoCar.com. They are going to have videos that provide instruction on how to install many of the cool after market accessories that you can find on their site.

I went to the page of Corvette related items to use as an example of the stuff they have. Corvette owners are famous for customizing their interiors because, in my opinion, nothing needs to be done with the outside. The wood grain dash kits are pretty cool. Even though the videos aren’t on the site as of this date, the text instructions for these car accessories are quite extensive.

Ramblin’ Man

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I have made a few posts in the last week that touch on some issues that get people emotionally fired up. I hadn’t really planned it , these things are sometimes just ramblings. I know the word RAMBLINGS is a fairly popular one to put in blog titles or taglines. I originally intended to have mostly insights and opinions on this blog.

I plan on doing a few posts about iPhone features this week. I don’t think people are emotionally divided about this issue.

Something Of Value

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

A traditional Africa hunting safari is an experience of a lifetime. Africa is the land mass that witnessed the dawn of our human species. Hunting animals was a vocation long before accounting, or motivational speaking, or even farming. It is arguably the World’s oldest profession.

Africa probably has the largest combination of density, range of freedom, and diversity of wild animal populations. Large carnivores like lions, hyenas, and cheetahs abound. Buffalo, deer, elephants, camels, and giraffes range freely on open plains.

I have spent a couple of years living on an island that has no large native mammals. I grew up in Canada an hunting was part of my life. My grandfather and many before him has relied on Moose and White-Tailed Deer as a source of food. My father lived in different times, it wasn’t vital for him to hunt. He would go for a few years without shooting a deer. I have never killed a deer. I do not know how many Snowshoe Hares I have shot.

There is no denying the rush that a hunter gets when he is on the hunt. It is this rush, and also the richly sensual experience of just being on an African plain, that brings people out on safari. Many Americans dream for most of their lives of going to Africa. If you are going to act on that dream, you’d best arrange the event with an profesional experienced outfitter like The T. Jeffrey Safari Company. They are a full time, full service, hunting and sport fishing consultancy and they are dedicated to satisfying their customers.

Siesta

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Social conventions like the siesta developed in countries with hot climates. I always found it strange that there are many regions in the World that have a climate that would suggest a siesta, but that the thinking of the dominant culture prevents such a custom from being instituted for public business. The combined forces of immigration and global warming may soon change that.

Stopping business in the middle of the day has some costs and also some benefits.

I experienced extreme heat as a skilled worker in Canada during a half dozen record breaking days. The policy there is to give slightly longer breaks and provide cold beverages. My employer ran his production facility 24/7, so siesta wasn’t in his vocabulary.

Do I Want an iPhone?

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I have a blog that touches on the subjects of technology and cool gadgets. I have a confession to make. I am not one of those people who decides that I must have the latest MUST HAVE gadget. I didn’t even have a laptop until we were making plans for our transcontinental move and I needed to have a computer I could pack. I don’t have an iPod. My daughter has one. I enjoyed using it when it was loaded up with all the songs that she got before the move. Kids are smart. She has since edited her selection down to the stuff that I don’t like.

I eagerly entered a contest that gave me a remote chance of winning an iPhone. I am flip flopping between taking the iPhone or the money. Either way, I have to hand the prize over to my kids because I enlisted them to do voice-over work on the video contest entry.

Canada is America’s Largest Single Source of Oil

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Canada sends about 1.6 million barrels a day in to it’s southern neighbour. More than Venezuela or Saudi Arabia.

This fact is one of the many facts about Canada that the average American does not think about on a regular basis.

The oil industry is almost completely privatized in Canada. If government did have more say about oil exports, it may have used it as a leveraging tool in trade disputes.

Vacation in Park City Utah

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I have never been on a Park City Utah vacation. The closest that I have come to that was a training conference that was held at Keystone Lodge in Colorado.

I am an east coast boy and I was amazed at how different the air is in that part of the continent. The standards of service at places like Deer Valley are very high. Speaking of high, the one thing that I didn’t like about my very long weekend in Colorado was my 24 hours of altuitude sickness. I think the 2,000 foot difference in elevation might make Park City a little easier to adjust to. The city is a popular summer destination for Utah residents because it’s 7,000 foot elevation makes it 11 degrees cooler than Salt Lake City.

Lespri Resort Property Management can provide you with beautiful accomodations in the Deer Valley resort area and in Park City itself.

Efficient Time Management When Your ISP is Down

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Having a To Do list that is specifically for things that can be performed without internet access is a very smart thing to do. I haven’t done this yet. We actually had a 14 hour power outage recently and my wife and I did a lot of filing and organizing. I prioritized list is useful, especially when you do not know how long you will be without internet and/or power.

If you are at your place of work and an ISP outage disrupts your work, think about whether there are any documents that you should read. Consider some hard drive housekeeping. Planning or training meetings are an option.

If you works at home, actual housework, sleep, personal hygeine, playtime, sexual relations, phone correspondence etc. are just a few of the things to which you could devote some extra time.

DON’T PLAY SOLITAIRE.

The solitaire game that comes with Windows has a measurable effect on GDP. I AM serious.

A Ceiling Fan Can Help Cool Your House

Monday, June 25th, 2007

We have been discussing strategies for keeping our indoor air as cool and as fresh as possible. It was 40 degrees Celsius outside today.

Minka Aire fans from ShopPremier.com could help move air around the house. If we had a ceiling fan, we wouldn’t be arguing about where to place the free-standing fan as much. There are still a couple of things to argue about with ceiling fans. Speed and direction are the two issues.

In my opinion, a powerful fan can create a draft that will help keep you cooler in the summer by increasing the evaporative cooling on the surface of your skin. My wife contends that the main purpose of a fan is to push hot air out of the house.

We both agree that heated arguments do not help cool you off.

I think I spelled that right. Anyway, it’s a brand new widget that allows any reader to rate your blog. I may put it on this blog. It is so new that I was in the top ten immediately upon joining with another blog.
