Residential Property Management

Monday, June 25th, 2007

What www.buildium.com offers to people who work in residential property management is a software system that taks care of many of the repetitive, time consuming tasks that this kind of business involves.

I have never been directly involved with managing properties, but have witnessed other people trying to make a go of it. In many markets, the net income from any one unit of real estate can be quite low. They only way to get rich is to successfully manage several properties at once. Probably the most crucial part of the work is purchasing. If the tedious work of managing properties is strealined effectively with software like what you can get a Buildium, you can devote more attention to the deals. For most people in that game, the excitement of making the deal is what got them into it in the first place.

This Domain is Worth…Something

Monday, June 25th, 2007

LeapFish.com has a free domain appraisal tool. This blogs domain is worth $1,027.00. My wife has a domain that is supposed to be worth over $15,000. I have blogs with better stats than this blog that are worth next to nothing.

Much like antiques roadshows, these numbers don’t really mean that much unless someone actually wants to bnut it from you. I noticed some really short catchy urls that a fellow blogger was using for niche sites and I suspect that he may have bought them from the domain aftermarket.

In Vitro Fertilization

Couples who want children but have difficulty achieving a pregnancy experience a lot of negative emotions. The level of knowledge and technological and pharmaceutical advances today is such that many difficulties can be overcome. An IVF specialist like Dr. Randy Morris can help couples understand and resolve their infertility issues.

A side effect of some treatment is multiple birth, and all the risks associated with multiple birth. Clinics strive to reach the right balance to increase the chance of conception without a high incidence of multiple births. Techniques are being continually refined with that goal in mind. IVF1.com is a useful resource for couples who want to become pregnant.

The Business of Belief

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

I was at a loss for content, so I typed the word business into the search box on YouTube. I plan on doing a long post about MS Surface this weekend. Tonight I am just going to put this 26 minute documentary about the financial grey area that is at the core of scientology ( A rotten core BTW ).

I think the longevity of this messed up cult lies in the revenue streams that it provides for those who perpetuate it. I have fairly strong feelings about this issue, but to be honest, I am also hoping to generate traffic by creating controversy.

RetailMeNot.com

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

I think this site called RetailMeNot.com is a brilliant idea. Users can share coupon codes that they find on the Internet. What you end up with is a huge, almost comprehensive list of all available coupons. Do you want a lands end coupon code? How about a circuit city code?

I was browsing the coupons for a few minutes before the thought struck me…what if these coupons don’t work? Then I noticed that there are buttons on the right side of each coupon for users to click indicating that it worked or it didn’t. Each coupon also has a comment section.

The coolest thing I saw was the Firefox extension that will alert you if you are about to pay full price for something for which you can get a coupon code. That boggles my mind.

My Final Post about Joost

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

All I have to say is this…

Meh

I have lost all interest in the technology because it isn’t working for me. I think I will try to find some critiques of the telephone from when it was in Beta. I should be able to use lots of public domain images in my posts.

Starbucks in Egypt

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Starbucks has opened it’s first outlet in Cairo. I learned about this from a news channel that I will not name on my blog. The segment was quite critical of the company’s efforts at World domination.

Not surprisingly, nobody had the head office of Starbucks would talk to the journalist.

sb.JPGSomething that Starbucks is faced with on the frontiers of its expansion are local businesses that have a similar level of service and a loyal base of customers. In Egypt this competitor is Cilantro. This Egypt based company is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America. It also is a good corporate citizen in that its operators strive to use products produced in the region as much as possible. the owners of the Middle Eastern franchisee of Starbucks is based in Kuwait.

YouTube on iPhone

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

YouTube on iPhone, the rest is just details. One interesting thing is the fact that Apple built the player as oppose to letting Google play around with the insides of an iPhone.

YouTube ended an exclusive mobile deal with Verizon and launched a limited mobile site that is accessible by anyone.
