Can You Trademark a Color?

I had somebody review a blog of mine last week and they suggested that the WordPress default template is not a good idea because Internet users have come to associate it with Splogs. I thought this made a lot of sense and I may get around to installing another theme in the near future.

I personally like the default template. It is simple and easy to edit. I also like to think that content is more important than appearance.

I am going to try to use colors that have come to by associated with various large companies. Today I am using the green and yellow that says John Deere to anyone who has grown up in the country.

I noticed the other day that a friend of a friend on my Facebook has a picture of a huge John Deere tractor as his profile picture.

Logos are copyright protected, but to my knowledge colors are free for us all to use as we see fit.

  1. John Says:

Yes you can (in the UK at least). I believe Orange hold one for their shade of orange.
