LAP-BAND: A Major Decision
LAP-BAND® is a surgical device. It’s sole purpose is weight loss. In my opinion, surgery poses risks that far exceed the risks of non-surgical steps related to diet and exercise. Tragically, many people simply cannot find a way to succeed with any nonsurgical means. The risks of LAP-BAND® surgery are often less dangerous than the risks posed by continued obesity.
JourneyLite.com is a website promoting weight loss surgery. They have surgeons located in California, Texas and Florida. There are free seminars offered in these states. The site is very extensive with message boards, a Q and A section operated by a qualified nurse, Jamie J. Carr.
Someone with whom I am very close was on a waiting list for surgery at one point. The wait for elective surgery is very long in Canada. This person ended up dropping below the weight that qualified her as a candidate for the surgery with public health care. I had supported the decision to pursue the surgery, but I was relieved when it was no longer imminent as well.
