Terabyte Outta The Competition
I do not know if Hitachi is going to try to keep a tight grip on their newest breakthrough. The have announced that they have reached a stage of development where they expect to have 4 Terabytes of hard drive space available to consumers by 2011. It’s too soon to say whether it’ll be in time for Christmas in 2011.
The first hand me down computer that I got in the 90s (the Apple II doesn’t count) was 1 Gig.
In 1981 Bill Gates said the oft quoted “Nobody will ever need more than 640K RAM!”
These future computers in 2011 will have 4000 times as much capacity as the computer I had in 1991.
