Undisclosed Vocation

Dick Cheney is being called the most powerful Vice President in America’s history. He is probably the most secretive person to hold the office. It’s hard for us to know what we don’t know.

Now Cheney has been indicted for a crime by a Texas prosecutor. Many Americans have been begging for this to happen. The State prosecutor seems a bit unhinged. Beggars can’t be choosers.

If a judge signs the indictment, Cheney may actually see the inside of a courtroom and be compelled to answer questions.

I predict that one of two things will happen.

In one scenario, the people who know what happened (sometimes called perpetrators) are either technically innocent or else confident that they have covered their tracks. In this scenario the case will die a slow death and be too boring for the TV news after the first week.

In the other scenario, Cheney and Gonzales and their lawyers are not confident. In this case they will seek a guilty plea on the least embarrassing charges possible and then get a swift pardon.
