An Affordable Radar Gun

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

I have two personality traits that are often at odds with each other. I am very curious. I am also very frugal. This means, for instance, that while I may have been dying to know how fast various objects were moving around in my life experience, I haven’t been spending hundreds of dollars on radar guns in order to find out how fast these things were moving.

I hadn’t noticed until now that they are marketing affordable radar guns. They are also easy to use and quite versatile. RadarGunSales.com has US made guns and ships them free in the US. On top of that, they have warranties. If you are doing unusual experiments with your radar gun, I would suggest you read the warranty carefully first.

Typical stuff that people like to clock include balls, pucks, boats, bikes and cars. I can imagine that some people like to find out how fast their dog can go. This is easy to find out if your dog chases cars because cars generally have a meter that measures speed (they are not very accurate).

It might be fun to gear up a radar gun to an unpopular politician and then throw pies at his face. Pies are not very aerodynamic, so I don’t think the numbers will be very impressive.

Audio Deals from Electra Warehouse

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Just to let readers know how old I am, I can remember when they still sold vinyl records in franchised music stores.

When I was a kid, I had an eclectic collection of vinyl that an aunt had left at our house. I used to listen to the records, but then the old player quit working. That was right about the time that vinyl was completely out of fashion for the average consumer. At the same time, Hip Hop was being born and along with it turntable scratching and associated techniques. I had the misfortune of being in the market for a turntable when they had ceased to become a consumer commodity and transistioned into a specialty item for professionals.

Long story short, I couldn’t afford to get a good turntable in the 80’s.

turntable.JPGImagine my surprise to see that Electra Warehouse has a turntable on their front page that is going for less than a hundred bucks. This eStore carries items that are designed for professional DJ’s but the discounts are designed to move the gear out to all the wannabe’s as well.

The store also has impressive deals on car audio components.

Car Accessories

The best is yet to come on the car accessory website YoCar.com. They are going to have videos that provide instruction on how to install many of the cool after market accessories that you can find on their site.

I went to the page of Corvette related items to use as an example of the stuff they have. Corvette owners are famous for customizing their interiors because, in my opinion, nothing needs to be done with the outside. The wood grain dash kits are pretty cool. Even though the videos aren’t on the site as of this date, the text instructions for these car accessories are quite extensive.
